Via Cuma Sourdough Pizza & Cucina held its grand opening on Monday, Aug. 19, in Valley Stream at 415 Rockaway Avenue.
Under the direction of chef-owner Luca Schiano Di Cola, the eatery serves up nearly a dozen pies, including margherita, Neapolitan, and capricciosa.
Diners can also opt for the salsiccia friarielli e provola, made with smoked fior di latte cheese, pork sausage, broccoli rabe, chili pepper, shaved parmigiano reggiano, and olive oil.
Or the patate porchetta e provola, topped with baked potato wedges.
The restaurant serves a number of appetizers – marinated anchovy fillets, anybody? – and pastas – how about pasta with clams?
Via Cuma currently holds an impressive 4.8 out of 5 stars on Yelp, where diners have touted the “modern and welcoming” ambience.
“The pizza was a culinary treat,” Shazar K., of Valley Stream, wrote. “The flavors blended magnificently.”
